[Biwako Hakodateyama] (Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture), a popular resort known for its panoramic views of Lake Biwa, is rolling out special events in anticipation of the fall travel season.
At the “Flower Meadow in the Sky,” which stretches across a mountaintop at an elevation of 630 meters, approximately 8,000 kochia plants take on autumn hues, creating a landscape that resembles a bright red carpet. Since kochia takes about 90 days to change color, one of the attractions is that the scenery shifts depending on when you visit.
On Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26, we will host the “Mid-Autumn Full Moon Event.” We will extend our regular operating hours and offer special nighttime gondola rides so visitors can relax and enjoy the view until the moon rises.
There will also be special events to celebrate Halloween. The parfaits specialty shop [LAMP], located at the mountaintop, will be decorated in a Halloween theme, allowing visitors to enjoy autumn-limited parfaits in a magical atmosphere illuminated by lanterns. At the “Hakodateyama Lantern Night,” where lanterns are released into the night sky, pumpkin-colored lanterns will make a special appearance exclusively on Saturday, October 31, enveloping the mountaintop in a Halloween atmosphere.
At [Biwako Hakodateyama], you can enjoy different experiences depending on the time of day—flowers by day, the moon and lanterns from evening through night, and even autumn-exclusive sweets. Surrounded by the refreshing air unique to this location at an elevation of 630 meters, savor an autumn outing that lets you feel the changing seasons.
