“I want to play to my heart’s content!!” If you’re looking for a great weekend getaway to make that wish come true, we highly recommend the Roadside Station [Springs Hiyoshi] (Nantan City, Kyoto Prefecture). It’s easily accessible—about an hour’s drive from Kyoto City—and perfect for a quick weekend getaway or a short trip during long school breaks! Kids can bounce around on giant inflatable play structures, enjoy the lush natural surroundings, and splash around to their heart’s content in the swimming pool during the summer. When they’re tired from playing, they can relax in the hot springs. It’s a multi-purpose leisure spot where both kids and adults can find their own way to have fun. With a wide selection of local cuisine and souvenirs, there are so many attractions that even a full day isn’t enough to see everything. With new activity facilities now added, the options for fun at “Springs Hiyoshi” are more abundant than ever—here’s how to make the most of your visit.
If you want to get active to your heart’s content without worrying about the weather, head to [HIYOSHI PLAY ARENA], which offers a wide variety of indoor activities. This vast space, measuring approximately 25 meters on each side, features an inflatable adventure course, a ball pit, trampolines, and more—ensuring that not only children but adults, too, will be completely engrossed in the fun.

The “Tube Slider,” where you ride down a doughnut-shaped tube from a height of 6.5 meters, is even more thrilling than it looks! An air cushion is set up at the landing spot of the jump ramp, so you can give it a try with confidence.
In addition, thrilling VR content is also popular. The immersive visual experience of racing through the world of dinosaurs makes you feel as if you’ve actually stepped into that world.
Launched in 2026, “Ultra Reverse Bungee” is a new kind of experience that combines theater-style MX4D with 360-degree VR footage—it’s so thrilling that even adults can’t help but let out a scream. Since it’s an indoor activity, you can enjoy it comfortably no matter the season.
Located just upstream from the facility is the Hiyoshi Dam, which boasts the largest total storage capacity in the Kinki and Yodo River systems; this setting, surrounded by majestic nature, is unique to [Springs Hiyoshi]. Another attraction is the freedom to spend time here while enjoying the changing scenery of the four seasons up close. In the lawn area, experiences that spark children’s curiosity await, such as observing wildlife and connecting with nature. We also recommend blowing soap bubbles or enjoying a leisurely picnic with your family.
In addition, the grounds feature puzzle-solving activities that families can tackle together. You can enjoy the thrill of an adventure while strolling through the natural surroundings.
There are also two areas where you can enjoy handheld fireworks at night, so you can immerse yourself in outdoor fun all day long, from morning until night. The time you spend here, taking in the ever-changing seasonal scenery, is sure to become a wonderful memory.
Indoor heated pools are a big hit with kids who love playing in the water. The 25-meter pool and the children’s pool are open year-round, and in the “swimming area”—which is open only during the summer—kids can bring their own floaties and enjoy playing in the water to their heart’s content.
After a full day of fun, head to the natural hot springs—a treat for adults, too. With a variety of baths, including an open-air bath fed directly from the source, they’ll soothe your tired body after a day of play.
Swimsuits are required to use the pool.
