Tofukuji Temple
Tofukuji Temple, the head temple of the Tofukuji School of the Rinzai Sect of Zen Buddhism, is also known for its beautiful autumn foliage and magnificent temple buildings.
From mid- to late November, visitors can enjoy the spectacular fall foliage. From Wednesday, November 19, to Sunday, December 7, 2025, the autumn foliage illumination will be held at Tsutenkyo Bridge, which spans the “Sengyokukan” stream flowing through the valley within the shrine grounds. Visitors can enjoy the sight of the overlapping autumn foliage, which is often described as “spreading like a sea of clouds.”
