On Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23, 2026, for two days, in front of JR Nagaokakyo Station at [Nagaokakyo City Central Lifelong Learning Center] (Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto Prefecture), the "Machi no ZINE Fest & INDIEMARKET in Nagaokakyo Bambio"—a magazine-style cultural festival centered on zines and books—will be held.
"Zine" is a general term for booklets or books produced independently by individuals. With no set rules regarding themes or formats, zines are currently gaining attention as a medium that allows people to freely express their unique perspectives through illustrations, photographs, essays, short stories, comics, and more.
Approximately 100 participants—ranging from art students to used bookstores and printing companies, primarily from the Kyoto area—are scheduled to take part in the event. Take advantage of this opportunity to see a diverse array of creative expressions—including zines, art, handmade goods, used books, and miscellaneous items—all gathered in one place. Chat directly with the creators themselves and learn about the stories behind their work and the inspiration behind their creations.
