[Kamigamo Shrine] This auspicious assortment, inspired by the “Hakuba Sōran Shinshi” (White Horse Ceremony)—a ritual associated with white horses that [Kamigamo Shrine] has passed down since ancient times—features limited-edition chocolates depicting Lady Godiva on horseback, paired with “messages of success” commemorating the Year of the Horse.
The chocolates come in three varieties: white chocolate with raspberry-orange ganache, milk chocolate with hazelnut praline, and dark chocolate with caramel. One of the playful charms is the “jackpot” feature—if you find a piece with a pale blue heart inside the white chocolate, it’s said to bring you a better year. There are four types of message cards, each shaped like an ema (votive tablet), and it’s a surprise to see which one you get. The humorous play on words—“nine horses going = things going well”—adds a festive touch to the New Year.
